My current work consists of painted images paired with texts written in several formats (monologues, questionnaires, lists) all of which are composed to correlate to what is evoked in the accompanying image. The region of each canvas that contains the text is left raw with no visible ground.

Each painting is a work of fiction that addresses aspects of dislocation. Some comment on the relationship between painter and painting but are not to be taken as autobiographical. Assume that the voice sounded in the text is one step removed from my own.

All the words are mine. I do not quote other artists or writers, but I occasionally reference characters from other sources. They are always composed to seem as if they've been cut out of larger documents or narratives.
